| CEIS manages/advises the loan recovery effort on selected distressed credits or on distressed portfolios. Outlines and documents the loan history of borrower to current date and assess future need for borrowed funds. Analyzes and documents the financial history of borrower to current date and determine feasibility of operating turnaround. Evaluates collateral position and obtain legal opinion as to adequacy of existing documentation. Determines the need for field audits, appraisals, and general information/research. Analyzes options from the bank's and the borrower's prospective. Responds to events of default, whether as sole lender, agent bank, direct participant, or sub-participant. Evaluates bank's standing among various classes of creditors. Assesses opportunities to strengthen or increase collateral position. Prepares for borrower/lender meetings, and creditor meetings. Identifies and evaluates refinancing options. Advises as to when to foreclose on collateral, and when to liquidate it. Establishes within the bank an administrative framework for managing distressed loans; train the bank's officers in the technical and negotiating skills related to maximizing recovery from distressed credits, and in avoiding lender liability risks. |
